My little girl has thick hair, and while it is now short (she has a sweet little bob) it still gets a bit haywire and needs to be tamed in the morning or quite honestly pretty much anytime we leave the house. So we need detangler daily, and recently there has been a lot of talk of super lice going around the U.S. so I felt like I need to put something in her hair to prevent lice. So I made my own combo- I was buying detangler at the Dollar Tree because really how much damage could such an innocent looking bottle do? Then I started researching essential oils and there million uses which led me to finding out WHY I shouldn’t be using all those chemicals and it finally dawned on me..We are layering on hundreds of chemicals on ourselves and our kids daily- and not just on the inside with food coloring and artificial flavors but also on the outside. Soaps, lotions, makeup, laundry soap, fabric softener, etc… I figured that anyway I could use oils to cut back on the amount of chemicals I would. So I have begun replacing everything I can in the house with natural ingredients and my beloved essential oils. This Detangler & Lice Spray not only makes brushing her wild hair easier but the combo of 3 wonderfully scented essential oils also deter those pesky bugs!
Here is what you are going to need:
1 1/2 cups distilled water
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
metal or glass spray bottle
You could also use olive oil or fractionated coconut oil but Argan oil has some amazing benefits for hair so it’s my oil of choice for hair products!
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle-metal or glass is best. Shake well to combine.
Spray hair generously, comb through with a wide toothed comb or your preferred brush, allow to dry.
Shake well before each use.
